The getting ready is the beginning of your big day. That’s when I will join you for the first time. My aspiration is to catch those quiet moments, when you’re getting ready and that feeling of anticipation about the rest of the day. We should start taking pictures of you getting ready early enough, to avoid unnecessary stress.
When it comes to hair and make up, you have at least three different options: You can do it in a beauty salon, at home or in a hotel room. But you are definitely not restricted to those three places. If you want to get your hair and make up done next to a river or in the woods – wherever you want to, I will be there!
In order to get great pictures at home, you need a big, bright room – if you do decide to get ready there. This is the part you can contribute, to ensure the pictures are not only good but great. Please remember I can only capture what is there. Bare in mind that the microwave or vacuum cleaner you keep in that room, will later be on the pictures. It is also important to think about colours and light. An orange bulb for example, is a terrible light ;)) … The best combination is daylight and warm earth tones. And last but not least, it also helps to wear something smart for the styling!
You can see, there are a few things to keep in mind. Nonetheless I think it is better, to do the getting ready at home and not in a salon. It’s just more personal at home and also a lot easier for your family and best man / bridesmaids to join in – especially when it comes to getting dressed!
I will shoot a lot of details like buttoning up the dress, tying your shoes, adjusting the veil or straightening the bow tie and a lot more. It will be a very emotional day and you will be able to sense all the exciting things ahead of you. Depending on when you want the first look to happen, this would be a great time to hand your darling a love letter or just let him/her know, that he/she means the world to you. Now you will definitely be ready!
